I believe that as humans we have a natural tendency to be afraid of things we don't know or understand. As a result of this predisposition, we search for answers to explain the unknown in a way that is more familiar to us. The mutated daisies in Fukushima are an example (on a pretty small and harmless scale) of something that we don't quite understand. While even a small dose of radiation is enough to cause drastic side effects, the evidence isn't really conclusive either way as to whether or not radiation caused the mutation. Regardless of what anyone believes about these flowers, they should serve as a reminder to us humans that our actions can have a huge impact on the environment around us.
